Themed Trail “Stampa in the Work of the Giacomettis”

An Activity Workbook for Hands-On Visitors to the Centro Giacometti

Under the title “Draw, Paint, Sculpt,” the Centro Giacometti aims to introduce visitors to a selection of works by the Giacomettis that were created in Stampa and depict the village and its surroundings. Equipped with the appropriate materials and tools, visitors can explore their own creativity by creating drawings or watercolors. This gives them the opportunity to engage in their own way with the artistic work of Giovanni, Augusto, and Alberto Giacometti in their home village.

The first in a planned series of spiral-bound workbooks is scheduled for 2027. It will serve both as a walking guide through the village and as a practical resource for visitors’ own artistic activities. The artworks featured invite visitors to discover historic Stampa and village life in earlier times, while making connections with the present. A village map guides visitors to various outdoor easel stations throughout Stampa, inviting them to rediscover the village through the eyes of the Giacometti artists.

The workbook features 24 works by the three artists, created between 1890 and 1965. Each work is reproduced on the left-hand page of a two-page spread, while the right-hand page is left blank for visitors’ own drawings, sketches, or paintings using pencils, colored pencils, pastels, or watercolors. The selection has been carefully balanced to ensure a representative distribution of works among the three artists, the locations where they created their works, and the artistic techniques they used.

The spiral-bound workbook will be available at the Centro Giacometti. Visitors will also be able to borrow folding stools and art supplies there. Those who wish may subsequently exhibit their creations at the Centro, either as original works or as digital reproductions in an online exhibition.

The project concept was tested and discussed on September 15, 2026, at the Centro Giacometti together with 24 students from Zizers Secondary School. The present project design incorporates the insights and experiences gained during this session. The first workbook, entitled “The Village of Stampa,” is scheduled for completion in time for the 2027 summer season.
